New York City Exit Sign Combos
New York City emergency lights need to output TWICE the national standard for foot-candles as measured along the path of egress at floor level. New York City exit signs require lettering with a height of 8 inches in any building designated as a theater, concert halls, or designated as a shelter or fraternity & sorority house. All exit signs in New York City are required to have red lettering. Finally, these units must be of metal or other durable materials. These New York City code approved exit lights (exit sign / emergency light combos) meet all necessary requirements.
Black Housing Combo Exit Signs

City of Chicago Approved Combo Exit Signs
The City of Chicago has specific codes regarding emergency egress signage (what products may be used and where these products must be placed).
The City of Chicago requires that any exit signs:
Signs must be rectangular 20 gauge sheet metal box with a glass or plastic face
Signs must be red lettering on white
The letters and arrows of exit signs and exit sign/emergency light combos are MANDATED to be red.
Directional Arrows are beneath the sign lettering and are the same width as the lettering
All Exits Signs need to be internally illuminated with at least a 10 watt "electric lamp"
